This year, we're excited to share our annual tradition of planting trees and wildflowers-an endeavor that not only beautifies our venue but also enhances the natural habitat surrounding it.
Planting for the Future
Today marks the beginning of our ambitious project where we'll plan approximately 2,500 trees and around 1,000 grasses throughout stunning preserve. Among the trees we're planting are the majestic longleaf pines and resilient red cedars. These species are not only beautiful but also play a vital role in supporting local wildlife, particularly hummingbirds.
As we carefully plant each seedling, we take the time to ensure that the roots are properly positioned and that the tree is planted straight. The health of the trees is crucial, as a well-planted tree will flourish and contribute to the vibrant ecosystem of our venue. The longleaf pines and red cedars will provide much-needed cover along the property borders, creating a picturesque backdrop for your wedding day.
A Burst of Color with Wildflowers
In addition to trees, we're also enhancing the beauty of our Grove ceremony site by planting native wildflowers that will bloom in vibrant colors come spring. Our team has been hard at work tilting up old farm soil, removing fescue, and enriching the ground with bonemeal, potash, and lime. This careful preparation will ensure that our wildflowers thrive in their new home.
To protect our seeds until they take root, we've implemented creative solutions like little pinwheels to deter birds from snacking on the seeds. Once the wildflower seeds are lightly broadcast and raked in, we eagerly await the transformative sight of colorful blooms dotting the landscape, adding an extra layer of charm to our venue.
